Membership in the Kwan Um School of Zen is not required to participate in Northern Light Zen Center activities. When one has become a regular participant in the life of the Center, donations or membership is a way to express appreciation and support.
Becoming a Member
Becoming a member of the Kwan Um School of Zen (KUSZ) helps support the Northern Light Zen Center (NLZC), and the transmission of Zen teaching. Fifty percent of membership dues go directly to NLZC to support practice, training and retreats. The other half goes to the KUSZ to support monastic training, publications, the teaching activities of teachers and the general administration of the international school dedicated to helping the all beings wake up to their original self .
Benefits of Membership
All membership dues are fully tax deductible. As a member, you are entitled to reduced rates for retreats and workshops. All members receive a free subscription to Primary Point, the journal of the Kwan Um School. Primary Point is an excellent resource for Zen teaching and for connecting with other Zen Centers all over the world.
