One Day retreat with Jose Ramirez JDPSN on March 29th!

Greetings to you all!

Spring will soon be upon us.  I know, I know, it doesn’t feel like it right now but soon we will be griping about the heat.  But it is still winter and what a better time to take a break from shovel and salt and just sit.  As the saying goes; don’t just do something, sit there!  To this end (get it? end? I kill me.)  we are having a one day retreat on March the 29th being lead by the excellent Jose Ramirez JDPSN.  If you have not sat with Jose think about doing so.  It is a treat.  Please join us on the 29th of March!  Email NLZC@gwi.net to register and/or for more info.

Jose is a excellent teacher and the Guiding Teacher and abbot of the Delaware Valley Zen Center, which he helped found in the Spring of 1999. He has been practicing in the Kwan Um School of Zen since 1994, and received Inka in April 2009. He has a degree in mathematics from the Universidad Simón Bolívar in Caracas, Venezuela, and a Master and Ph.D in statistics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In his role as an industrial statistician he works closely with engineers and scientists to help them make sense of data. He lives in Rhode Island with his wife and daughter.

One Moment Meditation

Hi Everyone!

I just got back yesterday from a Retreat at Open Meadow Zen Center.  As always it was a great day and I feel that my practice is stronger for it.  I also picked up one of the new OMZC t-shirts!  I am lobbying for Northern Light to do something similar.  I think that would be awesome.

So I stumbled onto this youtube video about a one minute meditation.  It is pretty good and enlightening, ha!  Pun very much intended. Anyway here is the link; One Moment Meditation

If that really turned you on, the guy who created the short video, Martin Boroson, has a website.   http://onemomentmeditation.com  You might find that interesting too.   Enjoy!

Peace

One Day Retreat at Northern Light With JDPSN Jose Ramirez.

Greetings to you all!

On July 13th the Northern Light Zen Center held a one day retreat lead by JDPSN Jose Ramirez.  It was a warm day and got warmer as the day wore on but we sat diligently.  Each of us in turn having an interview with Jose.  It was Wonderful!  There were a total of 10 of us there including JDPSN Jose.  Our noon meal was very delicious and we all enjoyed it mindfully.  Personally I think I may have finally gotten the hang of the four bowl process.  I am a slow learner I guess!

After the retreat was over we all enjoyed ice cream and cookies with tea.  Easily a high point after the warm day.  We enjoyed one another’s company and all too soon it was time to clean up and be on our way.  It was a very successful day and a great retreat.  Good Practice was had by all.

A Wonderful Day at our Open House June 23rd.

Greetings!

June 23rd dawned with pouring rain! Honestly I was afraid that we would be rained on all day during our Open House at the Northern Light Zen Center. But as 10 o’clock drew nearer the sky cleared and the sun came out and the weather would not have been better! Food, Tea, Lemonade and Orange Juice was provided, the Strata was delish. Our guests and donors came and we did the best we could to honor and thank them for their contributions and ongoing support. The Dharma room and indeed the entire NLZC was alive with friends and their children. It was an awesome and lovely day. Thanks to all who came. We are indeed honored. I have pasted some pics below and tried to caption some of them. Sadly I didn’t know all names. My apologies for that. Nonetheless, many thanks. Namaste.
