A bunch of us Zennies from Northern Light got together today to put up our Stupa!  Last year shortly after the monument to Dae Soen Sa Nim was erected at Providence Zenter Center, the Northern Light Zen Center was gifted the Stupa that was originally in the monuments place.  Today was the day we put that Stupa up! The future intention is to have the Stupa be the centerpiece for a memorial garden.  But for now the goal was to get it in place. We did it!  Goal accomplished.  Yay!  Check out our pics below.

Sorry everyone, but extended practice for this Saturday the 28th has been canceled.

This years Buddha’s Birthday ceremony weekend was a special one for the Northern Light Zen Center.  We had Four, count em, Four people taking precepts this year!  Lisa, Sally and Pat took 5 precepts and Jay (me) took 10 precepts.  There were many other preceptees from other zen centers all over the country, it was a beautiful ceremony and a lovely day! Also this weekend marked the end of Kyol Che.  The 90 day retreat that takes place at the Diamond Hill Monastery. During this time our own Colin Fay did a 90 day solo retreat.  So this was a nice way to commemorate that as well.  Well Done everyone!

Yay!  After a little more than a year we have finally completed our dharma room.  It is beautiful! Check out the dharma room tab on the website here for a full complement of photos!  We are sitting there for our first retreat in our new room on the 27th of February.  We have some transitions to make as we get used to using the new room, some cleaning in adjacent rooms and removing some clutter.  But this is a huge step forward! The next big project may be putting in a small bathroom downstairs.  hmmmmm.
