The 31st was our retreat day and what a beautiful day it was! Gorgeous sun and temperature. A good day to practice! We sat all day in our lovely dharma room and afterward we had cookies and ice cream. Who could ask for more? Please join us for our next retreat in October!
Hey everyone! Just a reminder that our every other monthly day long retreat is coming right up! August 31st is the day, please come and sit with us. End your summer with some strong practice. If you’re worried about sitting on a cushion all day you can use a chair. Here is an article from Lion’s Roar about that very thing. Can I sit in a chair?
Hey it is short notice, but we have been sending emails all month! If you have the urge to spend the day in practice, think about joining us. Send an email to northernlightzencenter@gmail.com and let us know. Maybe we will see you.

I have been remiss! We had a retreat in October and here it is November, almost Thanksgiving, and I have yet to post pictures. 🙁 I had good intentions of doing so but as they say the road to hell is paved with good intentions right?! Then again, don’t make good, don’t make bad everything just is. Regardless, better late than never. So here are some pics and be it known that it was a wonderful retreat day, with excellent practice by all!
November 24th we have an extended practice day that runs from 9 to noon. Please feel free to join us. And of course another retreat is coming up in December on the 29th. Look for an emailing to be coming soon. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
I know I have been a little lax in posting. But, hey Summer right? We had a retreat in June. It was very warm and we had a small group but it was good practice!
We also had a retreat in August. As you may know we have a full day retreat on the last Saturday of every other month. August was good, it was also a warm day but not unbearably so. It was more good practice! Our next retreat is in October. Please join us! Good practice, Kong-An interviews, temple style four bowl meal and a wonderful Sangha.
If you’re not sure about a full day we do half day extended practice on the other on the other Saturdays on the alternate months when we don’t have a retreat. A perfect way to test the waters if you will. All are welcome.
June Retreat! Nancy Hathaway, Steve Bulloch, Terry Cronin JDPSN, Jay Seiler, Bill Robitzek, Mary Ellen Cimillo, Colin Fay
On March 28th we held a retreat at Northern Light Zen Center. It was very well attended and good practice ensued! The day started wet and foggy but by midday the sun had broken out and shone into the dharma room on our many meditators. We ended the day with ice cream and some socializing. It was wonderful. Our next retreat is in June on the 30th. Please check the ‘retreats and events’ tab to see what’s going on at NLZC!
WE had our final one day retreat of the year on the 30th! It was a wonderful day and good practice had by all. We had folks from Searsport and Richmond Me, as well as members from the surrounding area! An excellent lunch, (Chili!) and interviews with our Guiding Teacher Terry Cronin, JDPSN. All in all an very good day. May all beings have a happy New Year!
On the 28th of October the Northern Light Zen Center held its regular day long retreat. We had a wonderful crowd and it was a beautiful day. Very strong practice by all.
This is our new Taenghwa behind our altar. Many thanks to an anonymous donor!
