November 21st was a bright and clear day.  Perfect for a one day retreat at NLZC!  At one point we had about 10 people there to practice, it was very strong.  Some folks had to leave at noon but that’s okay.  We were glad for all that were there and their strong practice.  Our meal was tasty and interviews were challenging.  It was a good day.  Stay tuned folks for our next retreat!

Northern Light Zen Center is hosting a One-Day Sitting Meditation Retreat on Saturday, November 21st lead by Terrance Cronin, JDPSN.  This ought to be a great day.  As the days get shorter and the nights grow longer there is no better time to kick start your practice with a day of sitting at Northern Light.

Arrival and registration for new participants will begin at 6:50am. For experienced participants arrival and registration begins at 7:50. Retreat ends at 4:30pm. FMI or to register, email,nlzc@gwi.net or northernlightzencenter@gmail.com or  call 729-6013.  We hope to see you!

Yes I know this is a late post regarding the retreat.  But I wanted to post the pictures I had.  I thought they were pretty good, candids and all.  It was a great retreat!  The weather was good and the company and practice was excellent. Y’all should consider going if you haven’t done so yet.

On July 25th we held a retreat at Northern Light lead by Terry Cronin JDPSN.   I was a good day with very strong practice by all.  Delicious lunch, interviews with the Teacher and, of course, sitting meditation…. oh yes good practice for all.  If you couldn’t make it keep an eye on the calendar.  Our next retreat is going to be on the 26th of September.  Set aside that day!  Stay in touch.

If chanting turns you on, I mean if it makes you all aquiver inside and you walk away from it feeling energized and peaceful, or heck, maybe you just like to chant, then this day is for you!

If you are aware Kido is a form of practice where we chant continuously for a prescribed period of time.  I believe our Kido runs from 9 to noon.  Please email northernlightzencenter@gmail.com for more info.  If chanting is your thing.  This is the event for you!

Nancy Hedgpeth, JDPSN will be coming to Maine to lead a 2-day retreat on Saturday & Sunday, March 21-22. Nancy has been a student of Zen Master Seung Sahn since 1979 and received inka in July 1994. She is a guiding teacher of the Providence Zen Center and has held many positions in the New Haven, Providence and Cambridge Zen Centers.  This is an excellent opportunity to sit with a really great teacher and help deepen your practice.  Hey, would you rather be shoveling snow?!  Come sit with us.  We would love it if you did.
